17.3kWp Solar PV & 40kWh Battery Storage Installation

Another high-performance renewable energy installation successfully completed by ITS Technologies.

This project was designed to provide the customer with greater energy independence, significantly lower electricity costs, and reliable whole-home backup power.

The property's existing 7kWp solar PV system had performed exceptionally well for many years, but increasing energy demand following the replacement of an oil-fired AGA with an electric model, together with the addition of a second dwelling on the property, meant an upgrade was required.

  • 2 × Solis S6 15kW Hybrid Inverters (30kW total output)
  • 40kWh Pylontech Battery Storage
  • Automatic Whole-House Backup during grid power outages
  • Generator-Ready Design for seamless connection to an auto-start generator if extended backup is ever required

Intelligent Energy Upgrade

To maximise generation throughout the day, the existing 7kWp east-facing solar array was complemented with an additional 10.3kWp west-facing array, significantly increasing afternoon and evening energy production.

Combined with 40kWh of battery storage, the system can store excess solar energy generated during the day and use it overnight or during periods of high electricity demand, dramatically reducing reliance on the grid.

Reliable Backup Power

Following an 11-day power outage experienced by the customer last year, resilient backup power became a key design requirement.

The new hybrid system automatically powers the entire property in the event of a grid failure, ensuring essential appliances continue to operate without interruption. If required, an auto-start generator can also be connected to recharge the battery bank during prolonged outages, providing long-term energy security.

Estimated Performance

The completed installation is expected to generate approximately 15,000kWh of clean renewable electricity each year, delivering estimated annual electricity bill savings and Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) income of £1,800–£2,200, depending on household consumption and electricity tariff.
